Genesis 5:24, “And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.”
One day (and it can happen any time now), God will rapture His church; this means that there will be a generation of believers who will not die – God will take us/them up and out of this world!
Many years ago there was a TV show called Star Trek. I don’t remember much about it but I do remember that they had the technology to mysteriously transport people from one place to another, from the ship to the planet, or from the planet to the ship. When it was time to come back, they would simply say, “Beam me up Scotty,” and they would then “materialize” on the ship.
This is similar to what will happen to the church that is raptured – God will “beam us up” to heaven – but it won’t be man’s technology, it will be God’s theology. If you’re a Christian you will be “caught up” to meet the Lord in the air and be with Him forever (see 1 Thessalonians 4:17).
Since this can happen any day now, the question is – are we really ready? Jesus gave us that warning to watch in Matthew 24:40-42, “Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.”
Tragically there are some who consider the doctrine of the rapture to a be far-fetched, thinking there’s no precedence for this, but here we read of a man named Enoch, who was actually raptured by God, so there IS a precedence, it HAS happened.
Why did Enoch get raptured? He walked with God.
If you want to have the assurance that you won’t be left behind, then simply, sincerely, and consistently “walk” with God. Fellowship with Him, talk with Him, and go with God wherever He leads – each and every day all the way to heaven. Hebrews 11:5 reveals that he walked by faith.
Friend, make no mistake about it, Jesus is coming for His church; my prayer is that we would not only get ready, but that we’d stay ready.
If you’d like to read more about the Rapture, I’d like to recommend a book by Pastor Chuck Smith, “The Tribulation and the Church.”
Until the whole world hears, your brother in Christ,
