After sooo many years of missed opportunity, failure and procrastination, I FINALLY put up the banner that I've always wanted to put up this time of year – "Celebrate JESUS, the true reason for the season!"
For me, the banner serves as a witness to the world, as a tool for the truth, it's a heart-felt reminder, that it's ALL about Him. It's not Santa, or reindeer, or getting and fretting; it's not just the lists, or the lights on our houses or trees. It's the Light of the World – Jesus said, "I am the Light of the World. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life" (John 8:12). Christmas is the contemplation, that Jesus came; He came as the Love, He came as the Life, He came as the saving Light of the world in Christ – darkness is dispelled – we can see, we are free to follow with passion.
Don't get me wrong, traditions are okay, as long as they're traditions with truth, for if they're traditions without truth, it's all vanity at best – and most often, traditions without truth, will lead ultimately…to hypocrisy.
Hebrews 12:2, "…looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith." May our holy, gracious and absolutely awesome God, keep you, and bless you, reminding you and me, constantly, to stay focused on Jesus, the true "reason for the season."
