Below is the “formal” invitation to the Men’s Breakfast for all the guys, but I thought I’d write something a little more personal on my blog.
Back in 1989, God used Pastor Raul as a vessel, to change my life – to GIVE me life. I remember it like it was yesterday, a prolonged altar call, and FINALLY after multiple times of him saying, “I feel there’s more of you,” my wife Shelly (girlfriend at the time) and I, went forward to receive Christ as our Lord and Savior. Our lives were instantly transformed as the Holy Spirit came into our lives and we were born-again. The scales fell from our eyes as our names were written in the Book of Life. I suddenly had an insatiable appetite for God and His Word. He set me free – immediately.
I haven’t drunk a drop – or taken a toke – or dropped an F-bomb since then. Shelly and I were married 3 years later and wow, it’s been nothing less than a great adventure ever since – in life, family, and ministry.
This is the one of the verses that comes to mind when I think of Pastor Raul:
1 Corinthians 4:15, “For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.”
I have many other teachers that have poured into me since 1989 and I’m thankful to God for them all, but God used Pastor Raul Ries to lead me to Christ that day, and for that reason he has a special place in my heart, to the glory of God!
So – – – having said all that – I’m SUPER excited that he’s going to be here on Saturday. I HOPE AND PRAY that many men will join us.
