Cambodia – Day 1

We finally made it to Cambodia! It took us 27 hours to get here, but man, is it worth it! It was a long journey, but the Lord had me check my heart – how difficult it is sometimes to get out of our comfort zone, sometimes we need to get out of our time zone.

Today we got to know the area a little bit, we got into the Word, spent some time in prayer and worship it was so cool. We met so many beautiful people; The weather's a little hot and humid, and completely perfect.

I thought I would post a real quick video on us getting ready for a medical outreach tomorrow…we spent some time packing medicine and things we're going to be giving to the people – we leave for the village of Prey Veng tomorrow at 6am…please keep it in prayer!

Bound for Cambodia

Get-attachment.aspx Here's a group photo of the 12 of us that are bound for Cambodia. I was absolutely amazed with all the people that came out to pray for us, to kind of – "send us off" – with so much love and so many words of encouragement. It really is  those prayers that reach the heart of God, that make a difference in the hearts of all the people! I was also overwhelmingly amazed that the Lord had us in Luke 9:1-6 on Sunday…Jesus sending out the 12!!!! It's good to know that there's no word for "coincidence" in the Hebrew language. God doesn't need to, but He so graciously reminds time and time again, that He's with us…which is all that really matters.

Please pray for the family and the flock that will be left behind, for those of us that get to go, but most of all for the people of Cambodia, that they will be open to the saving name of Jesus, and that the Lord does a great work in every heart!

Finally Finished – Choosing to See, by Mary Beth Chapman

Mary beth chapman choosing to SEE Although I don't read too many modern day auto-biographies, I must say, I really enjoyed this book, Choosing to See, by Mary Beth Chapman. Of course a huge contributor would be the fact that I am so appreciative of the music ministry of her husband, Steven Curtis Chapman. God has definitely used this brother in my life, to change my life and draw me closer to the Lord, as Steven has offered up his gifts for the glory of God and the good of the people (like me).

Some elements that made this book such a good read was the absolute and unhindered transparency of Mary Beth. Some might not like her transparency, or even disagree with some of the decisions in the lives of the Chapmans, but the rest of us sinners actually find it very refreshing, and remember, it's pretty important to know that even the best of men are men at best. The basis and backdrop of much of the book is the passing of their little girl Maria – and it was for that reason that I cried a lot in reading this book. It might sound weird, but I actually found myself laughing frequently as well (a good mix – don't you think?). Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." And so the question is, do you know? Do you know that all things work together for good? And are you the "called" – are you saved, are you a Christian? (This promise is to them/us).

In this book, I read about a modern-day-living-illustration of Romans 8:28. God has taken this tragedy, and through all the tears, trial, hurts and heartaches, He has transformed it into triumph. Does that eliminate the pain? Oh no – the pain is still deep and real and devastating – a 10 on the richter scale of pain; but what we learn is that there is great purpose for the pain, God is glorified, His little girl is home where she wanted to be, in God's big, big house, and one day, by the grace of God and the cross of Jesus Christ  - we will join her in the true and tangible Kingdom of God.

May God help us in our Choosing to See Him and His ways, in all of our life, and all of our days. (Let me know if you want to borrow the book 🙂

On to Cambodia

IMG_0488 On Tuesday, January 18, I met with Gabe, Paula, Katie and Holly, as Katie prepares to leave as a missionary to Cambodia. I was so blessed to see the way the Lord is guiding this family and equally blessed to see their willingness to follow Him. Katie leaves for Cambodia on February 3, 2011. Please remember her in your prayers, as well as her parents, Gabe and Paula. Holly has been a missionary in Cambodia for the past two years, and God is doing an absolutely awesome work, touching many lives.

"Then He said to His disciples, 'The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." – Matthew 9:37-38

Prayer Request ~ For John and his family

Get-attachment.aspx Last week I served at a funeral for the beautiful wife of John Arenas who went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2010. John and his wife Mary Ellen were extremely close, they were always together, they were incredible examples of husband and wife. John took care of Mary Ellen with tangible love, to the very end, always by her side – something I will never forget. I just thought I'd post this so that you might remember him in your prayers, he really needs the Lord's strength to make it through and finish his own race with joy. Mary Ellen also left behind 8 children who could also use your prayers – the most important request, of course, being her hope that all of her children would be reconciled to God and her, one day, in heaven.

"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints." – Psalm 116:15

A Mega-Christmas-Milestone!

IMG_0300 After sooo many years of missed opportunity, failure and procrastination, I FINALLY put up the banner that I've always wanted to put up this time of year – "Celebrate JESUS, the true reason for the season!"

For me, the banner serves as a witness to the world, as a tool for the truth, it's a heart-felt reminder, that it's ALL about Him. It's not Santa, or reindeer, or getting and fretting; it's not just the lists, or the lights on our houses or trees. It's the Light of the World – Jesus said, "I am the Light of the World. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life" (John 8:12). Christmas is the contemplation, that Jesus came; He came as the Love, He came as the Life, He came as the saving Light of the world in Christ – darkness is dispelled – we can see, we are free to follow with passion.

Don't get me wrong, traditions are okay, as long as they're traditions with truth, for if they're traditions without truth, it's all vanity at best – and most often, traditions without truth, will lead ultimately…to hypocrisy.

Hebrews 12:2, "…looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith." May our holy, gracious and absolutely awesome God, keep you, and bless you, reminding you and me, constantly, to stay focused on Jesus, the true "reason for the season."

Time with my son

IMG_1362 Had a great time with my son Aaron today, we went to Walt Disney Concert Hall, to see and hear, "Symphonies for Youth: Pianissimo". Someone actually, anonymously sent us the tickets in the mail, knowing that Aaron would thoroughly enjoy it – and he sure did!

I just enjoyed being with him – and the music was absolutely amazing.

Thank you, friend, and thank you Father, for family, for music, for the gift of knowing that people and family are infinitely more important than possessions or finances…please help me Lord,to never forget!

Malachi 4:6, "And He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers."

Thanks so much to those of you who so faithfully pray for us!

La Posada

La_posada What a blessing it was for my wife Shelly, and I, along with our 2 dear brothers to go down and fellowship with the group at La Posada this last Thursday.  La Posada is located in Rosarito, Mexico, affiliated with Calvary Chapel Montebelo, and is a wonderful missions base for ministries to go down and minister to the people of Mexico.  You can find out more about La Posada by clicking here.

I am thoroughly humbled to have the privilege to go down once a month and share the Word with these beautiful people (with the help of Pastor Victor's translation – of course).  If you would ever like to go down with us (it's a great experience), let us know…and we will provide all the necessary details and guidelines.  Please keep this wonderful ministry in prayer along with Victor and his wife Sonia!

May our Lord continue to bless you and keep you…and may He give us his heart for missions!

Breaking the Chains

This last Sunday we met with a brother named Steven Cass – founder of the ministry "Breaking Chains." We are praying about teaming up with Steven and using the house we're renovating in Rosarito, Mexico to shelter girls that they rescue from slavery and prostitution. It's so heartbreaking when you discover the epidemic of human trafficking in Latin America. Please pray for this ministry, and pray that the Lord will show us His will. If you are interested in serving in construction in one of our work trips, or just ministering to the girls, please contact us. For more information on Breaking Chains you can go to www.breakingchains.org.

The very next day I received this email from one of the brothers in the congregation – Sean:

"Manny, I met this band at the two day evangelist training class. Today I recieved this email from them. If you click on the link you can watch a video of their new song about women and children trafficking and slavery. Wow what timing after hearing the brother share today about the same thing!" ~ Sean

Coronilla Clan 2009

Family 2009_2

Every year we take a photo as a family on Thanksgiving day…here we are in 2009. Ariel is 15, Aaron is 13, I am 43 and Shelly is still so young.  Wow…we've all changed/grown so much (except Shelly).  I figure by Spring of 2010 Aaron will actually be taller than me (especially if he keeps eating the way he has been).  The girls are beautiful as always…I just don't know what happened to me, gray hair, less hair (I shaved my head…oh well, Shelly likes it…that's the most important thing, huh?).

I just pray that we, as a family would love the Lord and love each other.

If the Lord lays us on your heart…please keep us in prayer – that God would keep and touch our children – to love Him with all that we are.  That God would give Shelly and I wisdom, as we attempt to love and lead our family, for God's glory, and for their good!
